Primates are a wide-ranging group of mammals that include over 500 species, from small tree-dwelling monkeys to larger apes like chimpanzees and gorillas. They mostly live in tropical and subtropical areas across Central and South America, Africa and Asia. Primates have flexible limbs, forward-facing eyes and large brains that allow them to solve problems and interact socially. Their variety in size, habitat, diet and behavior makes them very interesting animals, and it’s important to learn about and protect them, especially with threats like habitat loss and illegal trading.
